Mapungubwe World Heritage Site where you can tour the Cradle of Humankind and archaeological sites such as the Sterkfontein and Makapans Caves. This is the land of sandstone formations, mopane woodlands, brooding baobabs, ancient floodplains and unique riverine forests that form a dramatic backcloth for the wealth of animal life – elephant, giraffe, buffalo, white rhino, gemsbok and other antelope, extensive bird life, and the more elusive mammal like hyenas, leopards and lions.

The Magoebaskloof area boasts magnificent mountain scenery with tumbling waterfalls, isolated rock pools and lush indigenous forests. The Magoebaskloof Hiking Trail is situated on the escarpment close to the Limpopo Province town of Tzaneen. The trail offers several options from 2 to 5 days in duration. Trail huts along the route are in old forestry buildings or modern purpose-built wooden chalets. The trail will take you through lush indigenous forests through which sparkling mountain streams fall down.

Visit the Mangela Animal Touch Farm and Tea Garden to meet, touch and feed their friendly animals, Jacob the donkey and miniature ponies Maya, Misty and Pepe, goats, ducks, chickens, rabbits and more! Pony rides available daily, with supervision by one of the friendly and helpful staff. While the youngsters have their fun, parents can enjoy home-made Mangela Pancakes, delicious cakes and desserts or relax in beautiful natural surroundings.

Get to the The Farmers Trading Post for Market Day which happens from 9am to 3pm on the last Saturday of the month. A wide variety of goods are on offer ranging from clothes, jewellery, beading and antiques, tupperware, arts and crafts, antiques and lots more (more than 20 stalls). Special entertainment for the kids.

The Polokwane Game Reserve’s main attraction must be the amount of ground one can cover on foot – there are a number of walks, including a one-day 20 kilometre hiking trail with overnight accommodation. Even more exciting are the frequent sightings of white rhino and other game – 21 species in all.
