Day 1

Arrival into Cape Town, the ‘Mother City’. You will be met then transferred to your hotel where you will stay for 4 nights. Take time to settle in and to explore the Cape Town V&AWaterfont at leisure – perhaps visit the Two Oceans Aquarium; The ‘Scratch Patch’, where the children will enjoy finding gem stones; Go on a Habour Cruise; or just enjoy browsing the shops and delectable food at the many restaurants.

Day 2

Embrace the wonders of the city this morning, by visiting Table Mountain (weather permitting – you can take an optional cable car ride to the top of the mountain); the Company’s Gardens in the City Centre and the Iziko South African Museum; Bo-Kaap Malay Quarters and a tour of the Castle of Good Hope.

Day 3

A full day Cape Peninsula Tour takes us on a relaxing drive along the Atlantic Sea Board through Sea Point and Camps Bay to Hout Bay (optional Duiker Island boat trip to see the home of 20 000 Cape Fur Seals). We then continue via the scenic Chapmans Peak Drive towards the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve where you have the opportunity to stand at the most South Westerly tip of Africa and view the ‘Two Oceans’ meeting point. After lunch (own-account) we travel to Boulders Beach Penguin Colony, Simon’s Town (to see the statue of the famous Great Dane, ‘Just Nuisance’ and the Naval Harbour), Fish Hoek and Muizenburg. We end the tour off with a visit to the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens.

Day 4 

A day spent in the spectacular Winelands, surround by majestic mountain ranges. We visit Butterfly World, a paradise for Butterflies; Stellenbosch, the second oldest town in South Africa, with its many historical buildings; Bilton Wine Estate, for a wine and chocolate tasting and Spier Wine Estate for a ‘Barrel Thief’ Tasting and visit to the Cheetah Outreach, where you experience an up close and personal experience, where you can touch/stroke and take some memorable pictures of these wonderful animals.

Day 5

Departing Cape Town we travel along the spectacular coastal road to Hermanus, which is well-known for the Southern right whale. This morning we try to see if we can spot any in the bay. We also visit the old harbour, before continuing to the seaside town of Mossel Bay, which owes its origin and growth to the seafaring trade. Here we visit the world-wide known Post Office Tree, under which, in the 15^th century Portuguese sailors left their mail, and the Bartholomew Dias Musuem Complex, for a look at the life-size replica of Dias’s caravel, and the Khoi-San culture. After lunch (own account), we enjoy a leisurely drive to Knysna, where we overnight.

Day 6

This morning, we travel over the Outenique Mountains to Oudsthoorn, where we reach the ostrich capital of the world, Oudtshoorn. We tour a local Ostrich Farm (opportunity to ride an Ostrich), before continuing to the Cango Wildlife Ranch (where you can try Crocodile Steak for lunch – own account) and to explore the breathtaking Cango Caves, one of the world’s natural wonders. We then return to Knysna.

Day 7

After breakfast we board a pleasure boat, for a cruise on the Knysna lagoon and get a close view of the Knysna Heads, the two sandstone sentinels that guard the Knysna lagoon from the roaring Indian Ocean breakers. Knysna is situated in the Amphitheatre of surrounding mountains and the expanse of the Knysna Lagoon, Knysna is a treasure trove of interesting people and unusual places. You will have time to explore Knysna at your leisure today.

Day 8

Depart Sedgefield for the ‘Friendly City’ of Port Elizabeth. We pass through forests and enchanted glens…We stop to explore the primate sanctuary of Monkeyland, Storms River (rope bridge) and the Tsitsikamma Forest. Lunch (own account) is enjoyed on arrival in Port Elizabeth at a beachfront restaurant. This afternoon we depart on a City Tour, which provides fascinating insights into the past and present of this historical coastal city. Includes a tour of the Nelson Mandela Bay ‘World Cup Soccer’ Stadium and a 2km hike at Tipper’s Creek. This is then followed by a sunset ‘braai’ at a South African home on the Zwartkops River (a real South African Experience).

Day 9

Today you will experience a world of diversity in one park. The Addo National Elephant Park is unequalled in its unique wildlife, natural wonders and offers you a thrilling encounter with these giant creatures. After a picnic in the Park, we travel to Kuzuko Lodge. Hidden within the cavernous bushveld of the Sunday River region of the Eastern Cape lies the Addo Elephant National Park. It is here where the evening’s silence is broken by the howl of the black-backed jackal and the francolins’ call heralds each new dawn. With uninterrupted views of the Karoo Plains and theWinterberg Mountains, Kuzuko Lodge lies in a private concession to the north of the Addo Elephant National Park, the third largest national park in South Africa in a malaria-free region.

Day 10

With nature surrounding you, enjoy all that Kuzuko Lodge has to offer you and your family. God has created few places on earth as awe inspiring as Kuzuko. Morning and Afternoon Game Drives to see the Big 5. Enjoy a leisurely walk to see the San Cave Paintings close by (optional). Children can enjoy the special (optional) activities in store for them while you enjoythe spa, pool or simply relaxing on the deck of your private chalet.

Day 11

You will be transferred via Anne’s Villa and Nanaga Farm Stall to Port Elizabeth airport where you take a late morning flight to Johannesburg. Transfer (2 ½ hours) to Kwa Maritane Bush Lodge, beautifully located on the slopes of an ancient volcano. Kwa Maritane, meaning “Place of the Rock”, is a hub of luxury in the heart of an untamed wilderness – the malaria-free Pilanesberg National Park. Afternoon Game Drive (regrettably no children U5 years permitted on drives – babysitters available). Dinner in the Kwa Lefikeng Restaurant. Evening at leisure.

Day 12

With the famous ‘Sun City Resort’ only a 10-minute shuttle ride away, you enjoy breakfast and then transfer to Sun City for the day, where there are many optional activities on offer (Valley of the Waves, Cultural Village, Camp Kwena, Kwena Gardens, Predator World). Transfer back to Kwa Maritane Bush Lodge for dinner and an evening at leisure.

Should you decide to stay at the Bush Lodge for a day at leisure, you have the opportunity to walk through a 130m underground tunnel leading to The Hide, which provides an intimate glimpse of the wild at their watering holes. Children can enjoy playing tennis, outdoor chess, swimming (with a kids slide), trampolines, the kiddies playground, bush putt-putt, table tennis, pool table, soccer table and a climbing wall, with obstacle course.

Day 13

After an early morning game drive through the reserve for game and bird identification, breakfast is enjoyed and then check-out for your transfer to Johannesburg to connect with the evening flight back home.
