{tab Day 5}
Amsterdam – Excursion to Gouda (Keukenhof excursion included during Tulip Season as an alternative to Gouda)
Today visit a traditional Cheese Market which takes place in the medieval town of Gouda. The first mention of Gouda cheese dates from 1184 making it one of the oldest recorded cheeses still made in the world today. The cheese is named after the Dutch city of Gouda, not because it is produced in or near the city, but because it has historically been traded here. In the Middle Ages all the cheeses would be taken to the market square in Gouda to be sold. Enjoy seeing this ancient cheese tradition taking place before you have free time to explore some of the other attractions. (Please note that during the opening of Keukenhof an excursion to see the tulip fields will be included instead of the visit to Gouda). This evening celebrate your time in Amsterdam with a delicious Farewell Dinner in the trendy city centre.
