Lüderitz is a harbour town in the ǁKaras Region of southern Namibia, lying on one of the least hospitable coasts in Africa. The town is known for its German colonial buildings, including the art nouveau Goerke Haus, built into the rock face on Diamond Hill. Nearby, Felsenkirche is a hilltop church with panoramic bay view’s stretching around to Robert Harbor and Shark Island. The Lüderitz Museum has displays about the town’s diamond-mining past as well as local inhabitants, natural history and wildlife including seals, penguins, and flamingos.

This day is purely devoted to optional activities based on client’s preferences: we suggest the below optional activities (not included):

Boat Trips – N$530.00 per person Daily tours at 8 am
– departure from Lüderitz Waterfront Pre booking required (1 day before). The cruise passes through two islands and heads towards the Agate Beach for beautiful views of the dunes and sea. On our way back, you will see different fishing boatsappear vividly on the ocean, with hills of Lüderitz surround the bay. On the one hand you will see Shark Island and The Light House. The trip lasts an average of two hours and is an excellent opportunity for stunning photography and sea bird watching.

Kolmanskop – guided tours through this mining ghost town - Entrance fees: N$ 90.00 per adult and Taxi services to the Kolmanskop are N$ 300.00 for 2 adults and N$ 150.00 waiting time per hour.
Monday to Saturday: guided tours at 9.30 and 11 am Sundays + public holidays: only 1 tour at 10 am Special Tours outside these times need to be pre-booked. Kolmanskop is Namibia's most famous ghost town, and is situated in the Sperrgebiet, (forbidden territory) a few kilometers inland from the port of Luderitz. In 1908, the railway worker Zacharias Lewala found a sparkling stone amongst the sand he was shoveling away from the railway line, near Kolmanskop. His supervisor August Stauch, was convinced it was a diamond and when this was confirmed, the news spread like wildfire, sparking a huge, frantic diamond rush and causing fortune hunters to converge in droves on Kolmanskop. Unfortunately for Kolmanskop and it's inhabitants, richer diamond deposits were discovered further south, and operations were moved to Oranjemund. Within a span of 40 years Kolmanskop lived, flourished and died. Today the ghost town's crumbling ruins bear little resemblance to its former glory. The stately homes have been nearly demolished by the wind, and are gradually becoming enveloped by encroaching sand dunes. In 1980, the mining company De Beers, restored a number of buildings, and established and interesting museum, which has now become a tourist attraction.

Lüderitz Museum – Entrance fee: N$ 20.00 per person Open Monday to Friday from 15.30 to 17.00 The museum is one of the older private museums in Namibia and has an extensive collection of artefacts relating to local history and wildlife. The Luderitz museum’s collection is particularly strong on the German colonial history of the town.

Goerke Haus – Entrance fee: N$ 30.00 per person Open Monday to Friday from 14.00 to 16.00 Saturday & Sunday: Open from 16.00 to 17.00 The sheer scale of Goerke Haus and the way it blends into the rock face is very impressive. Originally the home of Lieutenant Hans Goerke, and designed by architect Otto Ertl and constructed in 1910 on Diamond Hill, it was one of the town’s most extravagant properties. The house has undergone an admirable renovation job and is certainly worth a look.

Felsenkirche – Donations towards to upkeep of the Church are welcome! Open Monday to Saturday Summertime: 17.00 to 18.00 Wintertime: 16.00 to 17.00 The prominent Evangelical Lutheran church dominates Lüderitz from high on Diamond Hill. It was designed by Albert Bause, who implemented the Victorian influences he’d seen in the Cape.  The brilliant stained-glass panel situated over the altar was donated by Kaiser Wilhelm II.

POMONA/ BOGENFELS TOUR (FULL DAY GUIDED) – N$ 3,705.00 per person SADC & N$ 4,130.00 per person International. “Bogenfels” is the famous, approximately 60 meter high Rock Arch that juts into the AtlanticOcean south of Lüderitz. The day tour leads us into the “Sperrgebiet” (forbidden diamond area), where mining activities are still taking place, through breathtaking desert landscapes with an incredible variety of desert plants. The tour includes a visit to the old “ghost” mining town of Pomona where some of the mining equipment dating back to 1910 to 1930 is still reasonably well preserved. The visit to Pomona feels like a journey into the past – when the Germans discovered the first diamond, their harsh living- and difficult working conditions. A cold Lunch is served in one of the old, but well preserved buildings in Pomona. After lunch the final destination is the “Bogenfels” – allow yourself to get carried away by one of the most spectacular sights in this rugged area. ITINERARY: 08h30 The tour departs from Lüderitz in our own company vehicles (The Tour Guide will pick up the clients from their accommodation) 09h00 Rotkop Gate – Security Control Sightseeing: • Grillenthal • Dunes & Plants (weather permitting) • Pomona (old mines) • Pomona (old town) with excellent photographic opportunities 12h45 Cold lunch will be served 13h45 Depart Pomona after lunch • Bogenfels 16h15 Depart Bogenfels for return to Lüderitz. 18h30 Arrive in Lüderit

A drive to Dias Point, Grosse Bucht + Griffiths Bay (2 hours+) – N$ 950.00 min 2 pax
