South Africa’s North West Province is known as a ‘family’ destination because of the multitude activities and attractions to interest mom, dad and the kids.
Sun City is a great place to take the family. Children are welcome at many of the more adult-centered spots, and places such as The Valley of the Waves, is a veritable wonderland for kids of all ages. Kamp Kwena has a special creative room for all their messy activities, a jungle gym to keep the little ones fit and strong, a fun slide and a great sandpit and so much more or take the little ones to Kamp Kwena Creché who are only at Sun City to have lots of fun with the Kwena team while mom and dad are off having their own grownup fun. The family can also visit the Animal World and the Birds of Prey Centre near the Kamp Kwena, were you can observe the wild and wonderful animal life so unique to Africa.
Waterworld is operated on a man-made lake in a natural volcanic valley. Here the entire family can enjoy a wide variety of thrilling water sports, including Parasailing, Jet skiing, Water-skiing, Wakeboarding, Tube (Doughnut) rides, Wake snake (inflatable sausage), Speed boating, Sailing, Pedal boating and cruising.
The Hartbeespoort Dam, surrounded by the majesty of the Magaliesberg mountain range, is a popular destination for weekend getaways or day trips.
Visit the Reptile and Snake Park, the park also contains a seal pool surrounded by a large arena where visitors are given regular snake, seal and animal handling demonstrations.
At De Wildt Cheetah Centre the family can enjoy a three hour guided wildlife tour during which you will see and learn about cheetah, African wild dog, caracal, African wild cat, vultures and various antelope species. These tours are led by a knowledgeable guide who will present many cheetah and wildlife facts.
Pilanesberg National Park, a fantastic place to enjoy game drives in the wild African bushveld. This reserve is home to a large number of wild animals, including the rare wild dog. Activities include hot-air balloon safaris and elephant back safaris. Today, Pilanesberg National Park accommodates virtually every mammal of southern Africa and also home to the Big Five.
