Oslo
After arriving in Oslo make your own way to the hotel. You will have what remains of the day at leisure in this city situated at the end of the Oslo fjord. We recommend a walk down Karl Johans Gate, Oslo’s main road leading to the Royal Palace. If there is still time you should also take a stroll around Aker Brygge, the beautiful harbour area with many shops, cafes, bars and restaurants.

Oslo
Today will be entirely at your leisure to explore Oslo so more. Notable highlights of the city that you may want to dedicate some time to include the Vigeland Sculpture Park, Royal Castle, City Hall, Parliament Building (Stortinget) and many museums. Oslo has a vibrant live music scene; the city hosts many concerts, theatre shows and operas so there may also be an opportunity to attend a musical performance.

Oslo - Myrdal - Flam - Balestrand
This morning you will depart Oslo by train. After crossing the rugged Hardangervidda Mountain Plateau and arriving at Myrdal you will change trains and start on part of the track known as the famous Flåm Railway. On the 20km train ride, see rivers that cut through deep ravines, waterfalls cascade down the side of steep, snow-capped mountains and mountain farms that cling to sheer slopes. At the end of this picturesque journey you will arrive in Flåm, beautifully situated at the end of the Aurlandsfjord. Then leave Flåm on a fjord ferry cruising on the spectacular Sognefjord, the world’s longest and deepest fjord, to Balestrand.

Balestrand - Bergen
After breakfast take the fjord ferry to Bergen. Bergen is known as the gateway to the fjords and is the only city in the world surrounded by 7 mountains and 7 fjords. After you arrive make your way to the hotel and then you will have what remains of the day at your leisure.

Bergen - Hurtigruten coastal voyage
The majority of today will be at your leisure in Bergen. Some of the top attractions vying for your time today would include Bryggen Hanseatic Wharf, the Fish Market, Edvard Grieg Museum at Troldhaugen and Fantoft Stave Church. Make sure you do not miss taking the famous funicular to the top of Mount Floyen, 320m above sea level with magnificent views over the surroundings islands. In the evening, make your way to the Hurtigruten quay for embarkation.

Hurtigruten: Geiranger - Alesund - Molde
Enjoy a beautiful coastal voyage that takes you along the spectacular and rugged Norwegian coastline. Some ports of call during this cruise include Ålesund, Geiranger and Molde. The Geirangerfjord (visited 15 Apr – 14 Sep) is known as the most beautiful fjord in Norway.

Trondheim
In the morning the vessel will arrive in Trondheim, the former capital of Norway; its old heritage can still be traced in and around the city centre. You will disembark and make your own way to the hotel and thereafter what remains of the day will be at your leisure. We suggest a visit to the marvellous Nidaros Cathedral, the largest church of Northern Europe which towers over the city centre. Other sights of interest you may wish to spend some time with are the Royal Residence of Stiftsgården, the Bishop’s Palace and Ringve Museum, Norway's national museum of music and musical instruments.

Trondheim - Lillehammer
You will leave Tronheim by train and travel through the Dovrefjell National Park, crossing the snow-peaked Dovre Mountains and later arriving in Dombås. The train continues through the magnificent Gudbrandsdal Valley, with its fast flowing river and waterfall. At the end of the train journey you will arrive in Lillehammer, the Winter Olympic City of 1994. After making your way to the hotel you will have the balance of the day at leisure. We suggest you use this time to visit the Olympic Museum, Olympic Arena and Maihaugen open air museum.
